I know, I know, overalls are back....believe me I never dreamt I would get near them again. I am still scarred with memories from the ones I wore in junior high. You know the ones. Mine came complete with some glorious patchwork, a cheap plastic belt, and a mal-fitting peach turtleneck to wear under. Just thinking about them and the way they gave my straight up and down body no shape at all, still makes me cringe.
Thankfully overalls have come a long way since then and are actually chicer than ever. I think the biggest difference is that they are now cut for a woman's body, giving a little bit of curve to what has traditionally been a boxy and shapeless denim fashion faux pas. I paired mine here with a playful polka dot button down, a pink lip, and heels to add an additional touch of femininity.
For the brave ones out there you can wear them more casually with a striped tank and Birks. For all you Birk lovers, this is your moment! Please though, if you do choose to wear them, pick a pair of the newly updated ones in leopard or with studs! I updated my SHOP with some good options. Personally I was never a Birk lover so I think I am going to run with the overall trend by dressing it up with heels! If you dream of the 90's, then by all means unhook one (or two) of those shoulder straps, grab your high-tops, turn on some Alanis Morissette and have yourself a rockin' day.
