Contrary to popular belief, it does in fact get cold on the Southern California Coast (In the 40’s…okay, and mainly at night but still!). Occasionally, our desert land also gets the benefit of rain. When this happens the skies open and torrential rain pours down in the form of a cloud burst. Since we have consistently mild weather most of the year, when the storms finally arrive we’re often ill-prepared in the wardrobe department. But this winter, I got smart. I got ahead of the weather with a new waterproof coat and rain boots. Bring on some winter adventures! SAM is a brand I recently discovered, which is already adored by those in colder climates. Every single review I read mentioned the superior quality and styling of these parkas. I also realized they were so popular that they sold out almost immediately in most sizes. Ugh. Thankfully, I’m a pretty relentless shopper once I find something I need (okay, strongly want). Although pretty steeply priced, I was fortunate to find this one for 40% off. I figured it was an item I would have for years to come so it was worth the splurge. I love this parka for its deep gray black carbon coloring and waxed canvas. I also adore the light wheat colored trim at the hood and the utilitarian styling with just a hint of glam on the gold zippers. Perfecto!
The rain boots were the easy part. I have been drooling over these tall red Hunter boots for years. The fit and durability are superb! Plus, I intend to get use of these beauties for at least a decade. The candy apple red color is so bright and cheery, they bring a little bit of sunshine to whatever cloud burst I may encounter.
Thanks for stopping by Of Beauty & Grace. Please note that I am now including a "splurge" and a "save" option with links for those who may have a more restricted budget but who want to find a similar look as shown, but at a more cost efficient price! You’re welcome ;)
