The Autumn winds in Southern California have been warm and humid this year. Count me among the masses that are longing for freedom from the relentless heat. I want to embrace this time of harvest with sweaters, warm apple pie, and cool evenings... but it simply isn't happening. Don't even get me started on my longings for flannels, boots, and jeans. Oh how it all makes my heart hurt just a little bit. So for todays post I decided to address a question that I keep hearing, "What do you wear when you are ready for a new season but the new season is not quite ready for you?"
My answer is threefold:
1. Update your wardrobe and accessory color palette. Pair camel and white. Try an all white outfit with a rich burgundy lip. Wear soft gray with tan accessories. Tie a plaid scarf onto your bag. (You don't have to wear it to bring that color into your look.) Head to toe camel with a bright pink lip is always stunning.
2. Dresses. Rocking a new dress is a one step solution that allow you the comfort in high temps but also give you ample opportunity to try out warm fall prints and colors. Plus, they offer more coverage than shorts. Can I get an amen to that?
3. Change up your makeup routine. If you enjoy wearing a bold lip than take that shade a hint darker. Another fall favorite look is a smokey eye created from rich olives, taupes, or golds paired with a nude lip. Quick tip: If you are going for a nude lip, be sure you spend an extra minute prepping your skin so that it has a nice even tone to compliment the lip.
Today's look has me loving life in a billowy Free People dress in ivory with rust embroidery detail. Feminine and easy breezy, this little love even has pockets! While this dress can go boho chic I opted to take the look uptown with this gorgeous Dooney & Bourke Barlow Bag. The supple leather and stunning matte finish of this bag make this bucket and satchel-shaped hybrid, truly shine. A true "Dooney" the "Barlow" is not only thoughtfully designed with soft pleats, rolled top handles, and detachable straps but a timeless beauty that you will love for years to come.
