Meet my favorite shorts of Summer 2015. When I depart from my minimalist ways I typically swing to the opposite end of the spectrum and go for super vibrant prints. Moment of truth: this is the first time I’ve ever bought a pair of J.Crew shorts. They are usually too country club preppy and, well, just not my vibe. Since you’ll never find me in their typical khaki chino shorts, you can imagine my surprise when I visited my local J.Crew and found these beauties. The cheery brushstroke print felt so refreshing and modern and a welcome departure from the Navajo-styled prints that have dominated trends the last couple of years. The shorts are made of the softest cotton and thoughtfully lined for long summer days. Since I'm built straight and narrow the side zip and well placed pleats helped to add a bit of curve to my frame. No matter your build, I believe women of all shapes and sizes can pull these off on account of the pleats. They eliminate the “front bum” if you know what I mean….and I think you do. Keeping with a bright palette I added the lemon yellow camisole tank from Topshop. The tank is made with a double-v neckline that drapes beautifully on the body and, at $28, is a total steal! Seriously, this should be in each of your closets. Plus, it's made in a rainbow of stunning colors. If bright yellow is not your thing then scoop one up in black, nude, or olive. Faux suede lace up sandals (on crazy clearance at Zara) and my Rebecca Minkoff hobo bag bring warmth to the look with their honey hues. Karen Walker shades ensure that this look is anything but country club stuffy.
