Like all people who've grown up in a populated area, I've always romanticized about living a simpler life out in the country. Our recent road trip to the Northwest allowed me to experience a small piece of the quiet life in the most darling town of Silverton, Oregon. Reminiscent of Gilmore Girls' "Stars Hollow," Silverton has the sweetest downtown. Perfectly whimsical with tree lined streets and historic buildings dating back before the 1920's. Each storefront filled with unique one-of-a-kind toys, jewelry, and antiques. The gem of Silverton was, hands down, a local eatery called, "The Gathering Place. Completely unpretentious and oozing with down home charm, The Gathering Place served up some of the most mouthwatering food and homemade desserts I have ever had. I am renowned for my terrible sweet tooth and the homemade lemon lavender sugar cookies and dark chocolate sea salt caramel bars did not disappoint. In fact days later I am still dreaming about them.....
Moved by my moment of Silverton wonder I went for a look created with a small town girl in mind. Simple, feminine, and most likely living in each one of your closets, this look is the definition of casual cute. A peek of sparkle in the necklace and a little spot of leopard help to dress up these basics. A side braid pulled up into a messy updo keep this look fun and friendly. After a trip away, I realized that I am - without a doubt - a Southern California girl living right where I belong, though I will always enjoy the retreating to the country life when I can!
